so essentially, ensure that PS is set to the same colour space as that which is being exported by Lightroom?

And regardless of what colour space i use in camera, if i pull a cr2 file from the camera into lightroom or PS then it wont make one iota difference.!

That's it!

But Like Tony indicated you can enable PS to alert you if there is a Profile Mismatch when moving an image into Photoshop from Lightroom or ACR. If Enabled it will alert you and give you a few options.

The color space set in the camera won't affect a Raw in post processing. In some cases it can matter to your histogram when shooting (bright saturated colors) but usually makes no difference.

To be "safe", set Lightroom to send pics to Photoshop in sRGB and then set Photoshop to use the sRGB color space as the "working" color space and also to convert any "unknown" images to sRGB -- that will get everything on the "same plate". As you go, you may want to experiment, but for general use sRGB is always the safe bet.
