I bought a couple of these. They register in the 5D2 and 7D. I'm getting about 600 shots per charge. When I received them I checked the physical dimensions with a micrometer, it's a perfect match to the genuine Canon battery. I carefully checked the voltage under load and it's well within the OEM specifications.

I bought a generic and it works...but it doesn't seem to last near as long as the Canon.

These don't either, I get around 900 shots on the genuine LP-E6 but I can buy five of these for what one LP-E6 costs.

Guess the real question is where will they be in a year? I bought a couple generics for my MkIII's and both of them went completely dead at just over a year old, actually within 2 weeks of each other. While they worked they were fine, but my OE Canon batteries are still going strong while the generics were just tossed into the recycle bin at the local radio shack.

I suppose that depends on the manufacturer. I recently sold a 50D with all my remaining generic BP511s, some were three years old and still going strong. I have a generic I bought from this seller for my 1D4 that goes over 1000 shots per charge and is still working fine though it's not a year old yet.
