I was considering getting this Singh-Ray 82mm Vari-ND Variable Neutral Density Filter.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_ND_Variable_Neutral.html (external link)

The question is, can I reduce vignetting by using the 82mm filter rather than the 77mm on the Canon 24-70. Would using a step-up ring for the 82mm cancel out the potential gain?

Word is that there is vignetting up to 35mm on a full frame camera when using the 77mm Singh-Ray variable filter.

It's closer to 28mm or so with the thin mount of my Vari-n-Duo, which has a CPL in it as well. Call them up. Their customer service is awesome.
