Had another composition picked out that I liked much more but after waiting for an hour the sun kept popping in and out ruining the shot.

I'm always torn on shots like this. You nailed it as it is, then on the flip side the signs kill it for me. I always try to maintain reality, but I hate the human aspect in nature.

I completely agree, I tend to avoid signs whenever possible but I really liked the way the tree helped frame in the shot and didn't like tge other compositions I tried without them.

The reality of this location is somewhat suiting to have the signs as well. About 100yds behind the falls is a road that crosses the stream and a parking lot with a staircase leading down to the falls. I wish I was more pleased with the other shot I took from further back but every attempt I made the sun poked out and the lighting was harsh direct overhead light.
