Yep, I have been to the Old Mill Ruins a few times now.

Shot this one at the dam near the mill the day I found out that I would be the father to a little girl.

aww well congrats on the little girl! :D

Yep that looks similar to some I took. It was very hard to get the whole dam in a picture as tourists were all over....
Very nice willowy water effect!

thanks. She is 5 months old now!

That image was done on my first trip to the Mill area, it was actually getting dark, and I probably should have been leaving already...30 seconds at 14mm with a 2 Stop Solid ND. I rarely actually see anyone back there by the dam. One reason I like the area.

On my second visit I did this two shot pano with the 10-22

Love the b&w!
I think our problem was there were alot of photographers out that particular weekend shooting senior portraits, most were dressed to the nines and the photographers had "portrait" set ups.
The old ruins is a place I really am itching to get back to, we didnt stay long due to the crowds and people getting in our way alot.

Well, seeing as you guys decided to play the game of lets post the Roswell Mill shots--I will join in since I live right down the road from it.

But first in response to your comments on it: There are typically more people in the warmer times swimming, so obviously since its not warm you'll get the waterfall mostly to yourself right now. But there is a studio right up the hill and other photographers also come and use the area for portraits. It is a rather popular place for those... I even had a few of my shots from the bridge there when I got mine. If you really want to have NO ONE and i mean NO ONE there then go in the early morning. The light can be quite nice. Heres my shots from earlier in the morning.

These are all from this summer before I went to college:

David a photo you had posted previously was why I chose to go here, unfortunatley I didn't arrive at daybreak but caught the falls right at sunset. I noted that this is indeed a place best shot in the morning, and ironically the place I went to that morning was a place best shot at sunset....go figure...

Yeah sorry, I should have suggested that. I have gone late in the afternoon also before, but the light is just not as easy to work with. Hopefully your not to far away and can go back.

Took this one a year ago with my S3IS and a couple of ND filters (don't recall the actual setup). I drive by this spot every day on my way to/from work and the one day I had my camera with me, this guy was just sitting on the rocks. HAD to stop & grab the shot.
