May 09, 2011 21:21 | #3 Thanks Dan! That was a gelled, grid-ed 580 for the color, the rest was provided by mother nature!

Must be far from Dallas to get the Milky Way that clear. 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.

May 10, 2011 23:20 | #7 It's about 3/4 of the way from Dallas, to Amarillo. It's pretty dark out there for sure. Dallas is the king of light pollution. It's absolutely horrible. I have to drive at least 2-3 hours (depending on which direction) to get to anything that's dark. It's okay, I enjoy it... but I certainly envy you and others who have such beautiful scenery and lovely skies at your disposal! I'm just jealous!

There's a highway that connects Dallas and Phoenix and we can go out and fill up some cards. Just met up with fellow POTN'er Sparker1 and we got thrown off the Hopi reservation together. 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.

May 11, 2011 09:16 | #9 LOL! It's funny you should say that... I read that thread with interest, as I'm heading for Moab in three weeks actually. We'll be going up to False Kiva on one of the nights.

I hear that False Kiva is quite a scramble to get to--let me know. Going to hit up Arches, Canyonlands, and Cedar Mesa? 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.
