Thanks Dan! That was a gelled, grid-ed 580 for the color, the rest was provided by mother nature!

You beat me to it... I have been thinking about trying that shot with the star trails and the Tule Canyon butte off TX 207 (second image) for awhile, but have been too lazy. Great shots of some little known places!

Thanks Todd! Yeah, I looked but found very little in the way of shots from here. We also hit up Palo Duro, but was a bit unimpressed with it.

Todd--where is Caprocks Canyon? Must be far from Dallas to get the Milky Way that clear.

It's about 3/4 of the way from Dallas, to Amarillo. It's pretty dark out there for sure. Dallas is the king of light pollution. It's absolutely horrible. I have to drive at least 2-3 hours (depending on which direction) to get to anything that's dark. It's okay, I enjoy it... but I certainly envy you and others who have such beautiful scenery and lovely skies at your disposal! I'm just jealous!

Well--come on out! There's a highway that connects Dallas and Phoenix and we can go out and fill up some cards. Just met up with fellow POTN'er Sparker1 and we got thrown off the Hopi reservation together.

LOL! It's funny you should say that... I read that thread with interest, as I'm heading for Moab in three weeks actually. We'll be going up to False Kiva on one of the nights.

Moab is awesome--you'll have a great time. I hear that False Kiva is quite a scramble to get to--let me know. Going to hit up Arches, Canyonlands, and Cedar Mesa?

Yeah, I can't wait. So far, the itinerary is:

Areas around Page, AZ: Stud horse point, Horseshoe Bend and Balanced Rock near Lee's Ferry and Wahweap Hoodoos.

Escalante: Hole in the Rock Road, Sunset Arch and Devil's Garden.

Goblin Valley State Park, Tukuhnikivatz Arch, Behind the Rocks and the La Sal Mountains.

Klondike Bluffs area - Marching Men Rock formation

False Kiva and Delicate Arch at the end of the trip.

I've heard too, that False Kiva is a bit hairy.

We're going to be shooting all of these at sunset/sunrise and night shots. No day shots at all (well, probably some, but the focus of the trip is night stuff).

Can't wait! 8-)
