I owned an S90 for a little while and would've added a Franiec grip had I kept the camera. Really useful add-on for someone with big hands trying to use a small camera. I recently purchased an SX230HS. Really like the camera, but like the S90 it just feels like it might get away from me. Well, there is no custom designed and milled from aircraft grade aluminum option for an SX230 add-on grip, but I did stumble across a company called flipbac that makes less-elegant options. ~$13 shipped. http://flipbac.com/where-to-buy-Flipbac.htm (external link)

Here is my quick and dirty review of the G1 grip: At first touch the grip seems to only make a subtle improvement, but as I handled the camera, taking shots, adjusting settings and zooming the improvement becomes much more obvious. This is still a small grip on a small camera, so if you have big hands (like me) you still need to handle it a bit carefully, but the improvement is very real.

The grip is silicon. It is relatively soft, though not tacky like a rubberized material would be. Size is perfect for the camera. Doesn't protrude past the lens. Affixes to camera with re-sealable 3M adhesive. I have not taken it on and off yet.

The only downside relates to the way the face of the camera is rounded off near the edge. The grip doesn't seal flush with surface. Looks worse in pics than to they eye, but I will be curious if it stays secure after some use (just attached it today). It was flush when I applied it, but it just kind of crept up over a couple of hours. You could slide the grip further away from the edge to minimize this, but then you potentially create a space issue between the grip and edge of lens ring. More petite fingers would likely be OK with that; I need some space. It is rock solid at the moment, so maybe it will be OK. It seems to seal fine over the Canon nameplate.

Other than that I'm not sure what to say. For $13 it is a no-brainer of an accessory in my book, especially if you have any concerns with how your camera handles. It is 22mm wide by 38mm long. I would think it would be a nice fit on many cameras.

I got one too along with the flipbac mirror. I have giant and clumsy hands and every time I touched the camera I kept getting fingerprints all over the lcd so I'm trying the mirror thing more as a way to protect the screen rather than sticking a piece of plastic over it.
As far as the grip I noticed a difference right away - i'm paranoid about dropping the camera like I did with my fuji - so it gave me a little sense of having a security blanket and something to hold my big fingers against.
I've read complaints about the mirror getting in the way of the screen but I have not noticed that. I'm still looking at the screen and not relying on the mirror but I'll be testing out the mirror more this upcoming weekend when I head for the barrio to do some street shots.
