That's crazy. I bought mine approx 3 weeks ago from worstbuy. I had them pricematch to what they had listed online, $1799 then used a 10% off coupon. Since they price matched, it didnt take a full 10% off but the total came to around $1750 out the door, this was the one that came with the 28-135 lens.

Wow, just checked bb...same camera now listed for $1,899.

Adorama should be ashamed...if bestbuy has the same camera for a lot less you know something is wrong considering just about everything priced in that store is inflated.

It's not that the prices are going up... it's just the money you have is worth less and less.

Why should Adorama be ashamed? Remember whilst places like Bestbuy overprice on stock they are also shops that distribute loads of varying products depending what they can order in. Adorama (and other photography distributors) are only dealing in cameras and they've just hit a hard time when their stock for most of their major lines is running out. Worst is that there is no fixed date for them when the stock will be returning to sales nor what volumes and prices they can expect.

Thus I'm not surprised to see photography shops increasing their profit margin on what they have left. Its not greed (as something) but a simple reflection that they are approaching an period of unknown length where they won't be able to make normal sales and yet will still have to continue to do business. Part of this increased cost is thus going to have to tide them over whilst they have a harder time getting customers into the shop.

Already some shops (eg car repairs) have had to shift to reduced working weeks simply because they can't get any parts in - can't get parts - can't fix and thus can't afford to pay staff.

If Adorama will price match with B&H, which I'm sure they do, it doesn't do them much good to raise their price. B&H is still at $1799 and it's in stock.

I got one of the last refurbs from the Canon store for $1359. I'm glad I did, I see them going for more than that used now.
