Am I seeing this ?

Yup, saw that today and bought one with an extra Canon battery, CF card and 3 year warranty. Don't see prices going down or new cameras coming out for a long while.
It's my birthday present from Mom. She must have really liked those Mothers Day flowers I gave her Sunday.:)

You haven't seen anything yet, just wait until the successor to the 7D is announced. And for that matter the 5D2 too.

Oh yes, that did run through my mine before clicking the submit tab. Then again that should be about a year away (wishful thinking), so I have time to come up with new reasons (excuses) to upgrade. Plus Adorama offered me $575.00 for my 40D kit, so that does help a little.

I think the timeframe for both bodies should be by the end of the year.

That call seems familiar somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind. ;)

How long do you guys think these increases in prices will last?

At least til late in the year (oct), then it depends on the value of the dollar vs yen.

And on the recovery of the Japan manufacturing and export/import structure as well as if Canon choose to move any factories to other countries (which might increase costs)

It looks like Amazon has the 28-135 kit for $2633  I got that same kit at Best Buy in February for $1599, and turn around and sold the 28-135. Glad I picked mine up when I did...

B&H is still at $1799 and it's in stock.

Well it looks like the "bundles" with the body only "may" be in stock but the body only with no bundle is not. According to their site right now.

Welcome to what happens when supply runs dry. Good luck finding them in stock anywhere else reputable.

Thant Pentax k-5 is looking pretty sweet at $1300.

Do you think they will still meet deadlines on new equipment even though they can't keep up with the current demand?

They will make the announcements but as with some of the new L lenses the wait for them to actually hit the streets will be long.

So why are the Nikon D300S, Pentax K-5, and Olympus E-5 all in stock at normal prices. Is it just the 7D sells so much better?

I haven't followed where they're made but I would suspect those bodies aren't made in Japan and in the case of Pentax and Olympus their sale rate is much slower.
