Yeah, and you get the double whammy of her watching you when you're on HRO's site. ;)

HRO loves us, we buy everything in pairs (N6TNK/N6TNL), then again so does Adorama. At least at Adorama we don't buy everything in pairs, almost but not all.

With 3 bodies, 12 lenses and a wack of other stuff, my Radio equipment still costs me more than the camera equipment :-P

But at least I don't have any really expensive hobbies :-)

With the wife and I both into Ham radio and Cameras, the radios cost far less and last longer.

TS440??? That's early 90s OM. That would be like buying an AE1 for doing photography! ;)

Surely that would be something older like a TS-520?

I'm glad I have a Dad who gives his son Ham radio stuff instead of me having him buy it all myself. Just got a new Yaesu FT-270 from him. Thanks Dad!

I noticed a week or two ago Adorama's 7D pricing at 1849.

73's de KL1TN.

Pretty sure that is what I paid for the 7D, did add some extra stuff to be put in the shipping box also.:D

My TS440 was purchased in 1988, first model with no tubes. I'm on the cutting edge of the new stuff.:o:D

I knew it was from that time frame, I bought the 450 new in 95 and it was a great rig with the CW filter.

Back to cameras, the 7D is a great body, I bought one when they first came out. After getting the 1D4 I was so impressed with the IQ of the 1D4 that I sold the 7D. It didn't take long for me to start missing the extra 0.3x reach so I bought one of the last refurbs the Canon store had. Sure the 1D4 has the edge on IQ but it isn't that great and the 7D is a lot cheaper. I'm sure the price will go down when supply picks up but I don't think it will go under the list price until a successor is announced for it.

For me the 7D is a great all around camera, not a 1D IQ or a 5D full frame but covers some of each camera. The price to me wasn't that bad, as it was really a gift from my Mom. No cash out of my pocket.:D Is a shame that prices have gone up making it harder on most camera buyers.

I can tell by looking at your sig line it will be a nice upgrade. I had the 40D and 50D and the 7D is very impressive compared to those two. Get ready for a learning curve for the AF though. Have you viewed Canon's video on the AF system?

Status update from Canaon

http://www.canon.com/news/2011/apr04e.html (external link)

I think retailers will continue to keep prices inflated and cite the earthquake as the reason even though Canon may resume normal operations. At least that is what I expect in the GCC - not sure about other countries but it would appear that way they way prices are increasing on camera equipment.

Don't really think that release is valid being that it is dated 4/4/11 and there has been more damage since that date. Plus this is middle of May and Canon is still out of stock on most everything.:(

Didn't know about the video, will look it up while waiting for the UPS guy to show up.
Thanks
