I think either bag would probably fit what you've listed, but it may not fit in how you'd like and probably wouldn't have space for anything else. Well ... there'd be a bit of space, but things would most likely start to stack up strangly.

I think if you removed the (vertical) dividers altogether, lay the 580ex on the bottom of the bag and then put the 5D2s on edge with their lenses facing each other, resting on the 580 it could work. There may be other ways too - I can play with it a bit if I get the time this afternoon.

Your Ipad could go in the bag, between the back of the bag and the back of the removable padded liner.

Take a look at the 307. I have mine set up to carry both a 7D and a 5DII. Very, Very nice bag.

Did a search for Billingham...
I want to carry either:
* d300s + 18-200VR mounted
* or--d300s+grip, 18-200VR, 70-300VR with one mounted.

Reason? Trip to Cape Cod proved my current choice didn't meet dusty/wet weather needs. I'm using a Retro10 PineSol ;) It's heavy, and the raincover doesn't fully cover the bag back.

Thinking:
* Hadley Digital (with no grip and 1 lens, if I can get it in)
* Hadley Alice L2 (with grip? 1 or 2 lenses?

Thanks in advance

ps In addition I fell--hard--and that hurt my feelings. Luckily camera (2) survived. Very lucky! Can't fix anything on that camera body without spending more than a Billingham costs!

I have both Billingham Hadley Pro and large . . .

You can probably carry all of that in the Hadley Pro but it's going to be very tight. Depending on how you configure the dividers, you may be able to work it. You could put the 580ex in the front pockets but I would not recommend it -- looks too bulky.

As Randy said, you can put the ipad between the back lining and the padding. It will not be protected on 1 side, however.

The Hadley large is large. It's wider and taller but about the same depth. It can definitely carry your stuff and then some.

The Billingham "Hadley Pro" can carry a lot for its small size if you carefully set the dividers.

I often carry a 5D-II with either 24-105L or 35L, a 70-300L, and a 430EX flash or another small lens.

I just looked in it and it currently has from last usage:

135L and 1.4xTC
5D-II with 35L
24mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.8

I can usually squeeze a tiny 270EX flash for light fill in there too.

Howard, I went to Rob S's store and bought the smallest bag he had.
It's the Hadley Digital.
My d300s and grip just fits in with my 18-200VR attached. I've pulled the RS strap off (too big) and put my Domke gripper strap back on.
Camera is protected in case of falls. :(
Bag is waterproof. No darn rain cover to put on (as with my Retro10.)

Thanks for all your help. I want to travel light from time to time. It would have been perfect in Cape Cod. (sand/dust and drizzle/rain)

It's a tight fit. I'll see if the grip stays on.

Dang Dave ... now you got ME looking at the Hadley Digital ....

Looks like a great rain-proof bag for just a 5D with 24-105. ;)

Howard, glad to help. One bagaholic to another! ;)
I took the grip off. Much better.
Mine does fit with the grip on, but it looks shrink-wrapped. I changed my strap out too. Could be a consideration. I have gone back to a strap I used to use-- a Domke Gripper strap; my sling strap is too big to fit.

Best,

Dave

Thanks to Jon's advice on another post, I've rediscovered my Domke F3X ruggedwear bag. So my favourite bags are the Domke (when I need more gear--it holds a lot) and the Billy Hadley Digital. I trust the Domke; I don't trust myself to get the cover in place every time I put it back.

I found the Retro10 to be very frustrating when I took it to Cape Cod. Spring weather--Atlantic Sunshine (fog&drizzle), with blowing sand. Hate the raincover.

Could be time to purge some bags and get another Billy--larger though. :)

The F-3X must be better designed than my F-4AF then. When I pick mine up, the strap pushes the edges of the top flap so far to the center, that it leaves glaring holes on the top left and right for rain and dust to freely enter the bag. That, and the fact that the default insert doesn't take largish lenses are my biggest frustrations with this bag.

Going to order Hadley Pro + SP40 Shoulder Pad. Billingham just looks so classy compare to everything else!
Anyone know if there still room left after putting 5D2, 24-70 and 580EX II into the bag? I need to fit a water bottle in there

Roy==Jon here has incredible knowledge of Domke products and I'm sure could offer a solution based on his experience.

My Domke bags suit me well, but I've been simplifying my life for years; the larger/longer lenses are gone since I shut down my business.

Best
