Hot Shoe Adapter for Canon Rebel T2i

Hi all-

I searched the forums and couldn't find the answers to my 2 questions.

I have a Canon Rebel T2i and I use Alien Bees lights in my studio. I currently have a Seagull SC-2 Flash Hot Shoe adapter someone gave me. Into that, I'm trying to plug in an Alien Bees remote light trigger. My camera will not trigger the lights with this adapter. I test the remote, it triggers the lights. I test the shoe with the test button, it triggers the lights. I release the shutter on my camera, nothing happens. The same is true when I shoot on location with a different light set up, but using the same adapter.

In other words, I think my adapter is shot or something and I need a good hot shoe adapter specifically compatible with a Canon Rebel T2i.

What do you guys recommend?

And secondly, if I get a hot shoe adapter that works properly, can I use remote strobes on location without a problem? Will the lights be triggered successfully?

Thank you!
