Just getting into actually learning how to take pictures instead of just clicking like I've done forever with P&S. Just bought a 60d late last year and figuring out how to shoot is a challenge. Anyways, this is one of the better shots I took a couple weekends ago at a car show. I haven't really messed with post processing before and didn't on this either. What ya'll think?

P.S. I have yet to use auto (or as my photo buddies call it-full monkey) on this camera. Trying to learn right.

What's with the really harsh vignetting in the corners? Were you using a lens filter of some sort or did you have the wrong hood on, or maybe not on correct?

I had the 18-135 with a regular thickness and cheap polarizer and no hood. It was causing light drop off in the lens when zoomed out all the way. At least that's what I can figure was happening. I didn't have a polarizer for my 17-55 yet and have since bought a 77mm B+W K circular one for my 17-55 and two step rings for the other lenses.

Or, I had the polarizer twisted too much.

See, newbie here. ;)

Not a bad shot, but I wish you'd taken one later. See the links in my Sig, and...

Hmmm, it must have been the polarizer. It's weird that it would vignette though unless you stacked it on top of another filter, maybe a UV filter?

I like the shot, but as PhotosGuy wrote, would probably be ideal a little later in the evening. Exposure looks good, horizon is straight, etc..

By the way, how do you deal with the rear license plate?

The license plate is on a powered retractable bracket recessed int he tailgate. Its not my truck, but I know it. I was lucky to run into some guys from a magazine who were doing feature shots and I tagged along as much as I could for two evenings while asking a bunch of questions. And yes, had CPL on a UV.

I will definitely check out your sig, Photos. I know about the magic hour just before sunrise or sunset. I was there and started early. That evening red tint is beautiful to photograph, well, pretty much anything.

I am glad to be here and will post up more as I will shoot the heck out of some vehicles trying to hone much needed skills. ;)
