So, I've taken to using pretty much exclusively manual glass for my non-wildlife needs, and have found the default focusing screen and/or focus confirmation inadequate for fast-paced shooting with fast glass.

Does anyone have any experience with either (both?) the microprism or split-screen focusing screens (EC-L, EC-B, EC-A). Which do you recommend out of those? Do you retain center AF with those screens in? How about center spot metering? How is usage with lenses at F4 or slower?

I ask because I do use AF glass a lot for specific cases, and it'd be a pain to be without effective metering/AF while using them unless I wanted to switch screens. I'm also really unsure which would be best, as I have very limited experience with large-format or pre 1970 SLRs that had these sort of focusing aids.

Thanks in advance,

Sp12.
