What kind of charger does a Quantum Turbo battery use? Will a T-16, QT47 (Rapid Charger) or QT52 work? Is one better than the other? What are the differences between them?

QT47: http://www.adorama.com/QTQT47.html (external link)

QT52 :http://www.adorama.com/QTQT52.html (external link)

T-16: See them advertised on ebay with Quantum Turbo Batteries, such as here: http://cgi.ebay.com …20b83fdef5#ht_2182wt_1031 (external link)

If you want to stick with a Quantum-branded charger, it would be the QT52 for the Turbo battery. That said, if you want to save some money, you might want to consider a work-alike from Dasaga (scroll down the page to find it):

I've been using one of their $24 QT40 clones for a few years with my Turbo battery.

I bought a used Quantum Turbo Battery (original) from EBAY and a QT-47 charger from KEH. The Quantum Battery shows the plug indicator light is on, but the charging status (pyramid light) doesn't come on. Is this normal? Does is it take awhile for the charging status light to come on? If so, how long does it take?

The Quantum owner instructions mention that the Charge symbol which looks like an AC plug turns on immediated when the adapter is plugged in. The Charge symbol which looks somewhat like a triangle flashes as the unit is charging, and the flash rate slows down near the end of charge (but the flash rate might not slow down on a newer battery).

The instructions also warn to NOT USE the QT-47 unless the Turbo has been upgraded. An upgraded unit has a star symbol and the word 'Upgraded' next to the star. No mention of the consequences of ignoring this advisory is provided.

The charging symbol is not coming on at all. The QT-47 has a red sticker with a star on it that says upgraded. Is it the Turbo battery that has to be upgraded or the charger? Can you provide a link to the advisory? I have another charger coming in the mail soon, so I will try that charger also.

Which Charge symbol does not come one?

  • Charge symbol which looks like an AC plug The
  • Charge symbol which looks somewhat like a triangle

Re-reading the advisory, it is the QT-47 which has the Upgraded mark (or not). You have the upgraded unit.

Do you have any idea how old the battery is, in the Quantum Turbo? Perhaps it is not accepting charge because the battery is too old?!

The Dasaga charger I purchased came in today so I decided to try it, and now both the plug and triangle symbol on the Quantum Turbo are lit yellow, but the triangle is not blinking. Is it suppose to start out solid then start blinking?

I purchased the QT-47 from KEH. I sent them an e-mail explaining the situation and told them I wasn't sure if it was the charger or if I was doing something wrong. They sent me an e-mail saying to send it back to them for a full refund and paid for return shipping. I will not hesitate to buy again from KEH.

I hope the battery charges and holds a charge now!

It has been so very long since I started with a near-exhausted battery, that I don't recall the charge light indicator's behavior at the beginning of a charge.

Thanks for all you help, Wilt and everyone else. I'm hoping someone can answer the question. I unplugged the charger and the green power level lights are lighting up, so it may take awhile for the pyramid light to flash.
