Cybersync question

So I just got my CST transmitter and two CSRB receivers. Only pain in the butt so far is that stupid 580 of mine does not have a PC port. I never even thought to look. Another thing I dislike about it. 580 II is much better. So far testing it with my one flash I find the system is very easy to use and reliable so far.

So I have two options to test fire my flashes to get readings with my L-358. Walk over with transmitter in hand and fire at the location or get a long cord and leave the CST on my camera. The CST came with a short cord and it worked well.

Since technology is ever expanding and there is always something new out there, I just wanted to be sure about one thing before I decide. If wanted to use my L-358 to fire my flashes wirelessly is there something out there that I can plug into the CST that will receive the signal and activate it?

I'm not interested in the Commander at this point in time.

I have the same issue. I dont think there is a wireless solution with cybersyncs. That little base is pricey but its an option. I think you are going to have to go with the corded mode on your 358 to fire the speedlite. I have cybersyncs also and usually only use them on location shoots. When I am indoors, I cybersync my key light and the others fire optically. To set exposure, I cord my key light with the 358.

Thanks. Since I am not getting a lot of response on this one it does not seem there is something out there. It was what I expected but I thought I'd check. I am headed down the cord path on this one I think. It will be in the way a bit but but only for the inital setup but I like the thought of only one device in hand. I'll order a cord from the zebra. I was looking at their site but I have not spotted a 2.5 mil jack and PC jack yet.

Now here is something for someone to invent. A plug in radio receiver for the CST that works with a Sekonic

That is true as well. Still thinking.

If you purchased your CST new, PCB includes a sub-mini to PC cable that you would simply connect to your Sekonic's PC socket.

You could also pick up second CST and velcro that bad boy to your Sekonic...yes, I've done this

i have 2 transmitters anyway since i always want to have a backup. i keep one on camera and hold the other one in one hand while i have the 358 in the other.

i purposely bought the old model cst that didnt have the recessed test button to make it even easier.

Another two cybersync transmitter user here. One on the camera and one with my light meter.

Hmm. Mine came without the recessed test button. How would I even order it.

Well I ordered another CST receiver tonight. Decided I don't want to fumble around with a cord.

^ I learned something here. I might do the same.....and if ya ever find that you dont need it, it will sell for almost what you paid for it in a matter of hours.

You could also put the L-358 in the auto-reseet cordless flash mode....

Can you expand on that please.

This is how I use my L358 with wireless triggers for my monolights. ( Used to be a CST / CSR with Alien Bees, now an Elinchrom Skyport with Elinchrom RX monolights)
