My wife has recently started a Jewlery making business and when I come home this summer to California to visit her (lol I know that sounds like a strange statement) I want to take some high quality photos of her pieces that will be sold on-line.

I'd really like to do someting special for her jewlery photography. I think the pure white back ground or pure black background for jewlery is way overdone. It offers nothing in terms of creativity or sets you apart.

I'll need a new lens also and I though that the 50MM 1.4 might be a good candidate. Will definetly use a tripod and totally controlled lighting environment in my garage.

Set up Ideas here folks? I could really use it.

Grab a copy of http://www.amazon.co.uk …ic-Lighting/dp/0240808193 (external link)

If you get a 50 1.4 you will probably need to get a set of tubes.

Consider getting a Canon 100 2.8 Macro if money is an issue look at the Non L UMS version.
