Hi

I am looking to buy a "new" (2nd hand off ebay) Canon P&S that can be CHDK'ed. IQ, IS and a wide (24/28mm) lens are the most important features. Video (30fps and not necessarily HD) would be nice. A CHDK programme must exist for it.

Thanks

Why must it be an 'A' series?
Why not an 'SD'?

The best A series ever made was the A650 it was almost a G9 same large sensor but it is hard to find and expensive, after that the 590 or 720 should be available for a good price they have the smaller sensor but full manual control. all have CHDK ported. The newer A series cameras lack manual controls and CHDK manual controls leaves a little to be desired (no exposure metering) All of the A series have a max wide end of the zoom at about 35mm. I believe the latest A series ported is the 480

PS. The SD series cam's lack a real aperture (they use a ND filter) and few ever had manual controls the SD990 was the first. It's my favorite and probably the best SD ever made large sensor and manual controls and manual focus. it is ported to CHDK

I had CHDK installed on my A590. It was quite funny editing RAW's from that cameras.
If any, I would go for the SD4000, which does have manual controls and a wide max aperture of f/2.0.
