Alright... so I've always wanted a remote shutter release. The thing is, I've only wanted one where it is a black cylindrical tube with a red cylinder button on the top. I don't know where I've seen this or maybe it was just in cartoons, but I've always wanted one just like that. Think Mission Impossible where Tom Cruise is about to detonate some explosive... Pushes down with his thumb on the top of a black cylinder with a big red button on the top. That's what I want.

Any ideas where to get one like that? It's way more awesome than just your typical little Super Nintendo controller looking remote shutter releases. It'd be nicer to hold and would just be awesome.

I've looked around and all I can find are like this: http://imageshack.us …/remoteshutterrelease.jpg (external link)

I'll assume you're in the USA, so I've linked the US Jaycar website. You could check Digi-key and Mouser for more options, but I'm most familiar with the products at Jaycar (best retail outlet in australia)

for the body, I'd use something like this fuse holder with the guts taken out.

and try to mount one of the following as the button:

I also like: http://www.jaycar.us/productView.asp?ID=SP0657 (external link), but it needs quite a large hole. I used that on a custom garage door opener button in my car (the black version),

I like making photos and sometimes I think I'm getting better... then I realise it doesn't matter. I like making photos!

You probably want a buzzer type push button switch like this one here:
