Canon EF 300mm f/4L USM Lens

Hopefully an easy question but does anybody know what year the Canon EF 300mm f/4L USM Lens was discontinued ?

Usually it is considered discontinued when the replacement lens comes out. The EF 300mm f/4 L IS USM came out in March 1997 according to the Canon museum:
