Looks good and colors are nice. A little soft, I would try a faster shutter speed. That was one issue I had when I switched to the 7D and figured out quickly that I needed to shoot faster shutter speeds and then got much better results.

Thanks! I think my shutter speeds were around 1/500 or so. I will definitely bump that up next time.

Nice job. Just to nit pick some details. First two could be cropped tighter in the portrait position. :D And last two the horizon is tilted a bit.

From your EXIF I have to guess you are using lens not in your sigy or you were using a 1.4 extender?

You are correct sir - just got a 1.4 extender and was excited to try it out. Wondering if it was worth giving up the speed.

Dave,

Do you have the 7D on the tightest focus mode which I think is "spot AF?" I see in the first pic, it looks like the camera may have focused on the player right and behind the ball handler. I kind of fought through this issue shooting basketball and decided that spot AF and putting it squarely on jersey numbers netted the most accurate focus.

Other than that, WB looks great, good action shots ... have faces, ball, kids having fun. What's not to like?! Enjoy and have fun shooting this spring/summer.

Although youth soccer you prob could have gotten your shots without the 1.4x, but you could also gotten enough speed by upping your ISO to 800 with out any issue. :D

Yep - for some reason I thought 1/500 was fast enough. Chimping on a small screen always looks sharper than when you get home. It was also about 7pm and the sun was going in and out of the clouds. I did find it waaaay more rewarding than shooting boys hockey though!

1/500th should be fast enough for this age group, no?
