Thanking about buying a sigma 85 1.4 or Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II. I am selling my 60-200 mark I version soon. I want the sigma for the background blur/ sharpness, but iknow people say the 70-200.l mark II is prime lens sharp. How close is the image quality betweenthese lenses?

I've got both... and each serves its own purpose.... I use the Keg-ma for things I can't use the 70-200 for and vice-versa.... IQ on the Sigma is pretty dang outstanding ... but the 70-200.... wide open, it's sharp... stopped down just a hair... it's unbelievable.

My biggest thing is the extra stop of is.

The extra stop of IS comes in handy... as long as whatever you're shooting isn't moving... shooting basketball in low light... I'd rather have f/1.4 than IS that allows me to shoot at 1/30th...

Can't really compare the 2 because they really are different beasts. I'd say for now keep the 70-200mm mark I and get the Sigma 85mm. Save up a bit more then sell the 70-200mm mark II and get the mark II. Best of both worlds.
