I'd like to share something with POTN ...

[MOD EDIT - removed information that can be used to identify a particular forum member]

If you're posting the same images in more than two forums, anyone who could benefit from seeing your work already has.

Thanks for allowing a public service announcement. You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

I really hate when the same series of photos is posted somewhere... then converted to B&W and posted again... I see this a lot in the "Urban Candids" then "B&W Street Photography" threads...

Yeah that annoys me too, sometimes ill post different pictures from an entire shooting session in different sections that they apply to, but never the same pictures in more than one forum/thread.

Actually, that would be a violation of forum policy....cross-posting is not allowed. If you have specifics....hit the report button and include links to the cross posts. The Mods will take care of it from there.

Thanks. I appreciate learning of this feature. This may work to get a few who like to do this to stop flooding multiple forums and threads with the same work.

I know this has come up occasionally -- sometimes I get irritated but don't like to put a damper on people's enthusiasm.

But I know exactly the posters that are being referred to...they are posting some nice work but it gets so repetitive that it gets frustrating and you stop looking.

If you see something on the forum that you feel is against the rules here, or something you offensive, then use the report post button (

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'text/html'
) to bring it to the attention of the moderation team who will act appropriately.

Creating a thread like this isn't really the way to go about this since it can be classed as defamation of another forum member. We always prefer to deal with rule breakers quietly and with tact.

Your original post has been edited to remove pertinent information.

I feel so bad, I just reported someone for this... but, I'm tired of following multiple threads and seeing the same photos over and over again... then if someone takes an 8 photo series, and then quotes it, oh boy...

Yeah, and the quote is simply to point out a small corner of the third photo that's blown out or whatever, or worse to say they think the puppy being held by the little girl in photo 1 of the series is really, really cute. Kthxbai.

What!!??!! Seriously???!!! Arggghhh!!!

Honestly, I'm not understanding the edit to the original post at all. It's your forum you can do what you like, but in no way did I make reference to any particular member or members on this forum. The issue I raised happens regularly and it's not any one person in particular. It may be an opportunity to educate those who think it's ok to post the same material everywhere it might have significance.

Feel free to send a PM to discuss. I'd like to understand how (original post removed information that can be used to identify a particular forum member) is remotely possible!

respectfully,

dave
