I just installed CS5 (upgraded from CS3) and noticed my Noiseware and Viveza plug-ins aren't inlcluded in the CS5 program---anyone know if I can import them from 3?

You can either uninstall the plugins and reinstall them, choosing CS5 when it asks where to put them.
Or copy the plugin files into the correct plugin folder.
The first choice is probably better to make sure the correct files end up in the correct folders.

Welcs. Upgrading was nice but some actions need to be tweaked if the add ins are used.

Since you are up to CS5 the only real tip I can pass on is to actually try the noise reduction in camera raw. It is not bad as a place to start.

Even though you upgraded from CS3 to CS5, they do not share the same directories. You now have two versions of Photoshop Installed on your computer. If you have any plugins or ATN's that you want from CS3 you will have to copy or move them into the correct directory in the CS5 Directory tree.. E.g. if you're on a Windows PC it would be something like -> C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plugins.
some plugins might also have been installed in you personal Directory that has you name.
Your name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Plugins.
To see the AppData directory you will have to enable Show hidden files, folder, or drives under folder options/view.

Or in Photoshop Preferences you can specify an Additional Plugins Directory in "Edit / Preferences / Plugins - Additional Plug-Ins Folder".

As far as Noise Reduction plugins, I too recommend giving Adobe Camera Raw or even Photoshop a chance first. They have made some significant Improvements since CS3.

I've had the same frustrating problem with Silver Efex Pro. I copied it over from CS 3's plugin folder and definitely put it in the right one in CS 5. In CS 5 Silver Efex comes up in the menu and even runs when I choose it, but the changes don't go into effect. My other plugins, which I also simply copied over appear to work fine.

Oh, one more thing for anyone who cares. In CS 5 they inexplicably moved the web photo gallery creator out of Photoshop and into Bridge. However, you can download and install the module into Photoshop if you prefer it to be there (which I do).

Don't forget to check out the Goodies Folder on your installation CD's
