i want to learn how to use studio lighting outdoors...help!!!??

i have never done this and am waiting for my cool vagabond thing so i can try it out...yay!

so...if i want to overpower the sun do i just use full power and adjust the distance of the light from subject??

if i want to blend ambient and flash what do i do??

what do you??

If the sun is f/16 you need to be f/22 and above in flash power to over power the sun.

If the sun is f/16 then you need f/16 in flash power to blend the sun and flash.

If your using a modifier you will loose a 1 to 2 stops of power.

okay awesome so using a large softbox i might be able to shoot and get similar results at f/14? if indoors i typically shoot between f/9 and f/11 but at 1/4 power so...would i need to be at at full power on the wl x1600 but closer to f/14 or so?
