Keep an eye out for batteries with "white tops" and "made in Japan" on the labels. Check this thread: https://photography-on-the.net …026238&highlight=eneloops You might see them at Costco, Target, Walmart, other local stores. and this. A very comprehensive side by side of all the battery.

Some local Costcos have just Eneloops (AA & AAA) packages without the chargers, now. Keep an eye out for those if you already have chargers. | Canon EOS Systems |

I recently picked up some GP Recyko batteries that perform similarly (better in some respects) than Eneloop. The GP's have a little higher capacity and last longer. The Eneloops have lower internal resistance. The upshot is that the loops will fire a little faster initially, but die more quickly. http://www.candlepowerforums.com …ko-AA-AAA-Initial-Results

I own 40 or so of the eneloops and run them in both of my camera grips, and three flashes. They may not last as long when using compared to some higher capacity batteries (though for me, they hold a lot of charge and last a long time) but one major benefit for me is I can put the batteries in my flash or grip, turn it off, come back a week later and they will have the same level of charge and be ready to go. They hold charge a lot longer at rest then the energizer 2500 that I started with.
