Lovely birds. I remember seeing huge flocks of these when I was a kid ... sadly long gone from the British countryside in such numbers. It was great watching them over ploughed fields in the Autumn.

This one was trying to keep us away from its nest I think. It was pulling the usual lapwing stunt of pretending to be hurt and unable to fly, letting us walk really close then fluttering off a few yards before repeating the performance. When it judged we were well away from its nest it soared away.
