A dull and overcast day but I decided to grab the camera and check out the local park and pond. I spied the Egret coming in to land and hunt for some food. I snapped this shot as the Egret was passing me about face to face height. Using a Canon 1D4 and the 100-400mm lens. Shot at 1/500 second Tv Mode.

After the Egret flew off, I walked around the pond and searched out any ducklings, goslings, or anything else interesting. It was a quiet day. In a willow tree about 10-12 feet above the ground, I spotted this nest in a V in the trunk. Two openings and you can see a few large sized blue eggs. Any experts out there with an ID?

Some of the other birds that frequent this pond are robins, red winged blackbirds, green night herons.

Thanks.

looks like a robins nest, although a bit cantankerously angled.

Thanks Kraig. I'll have to go back again and see if there's some activity at the nest.

Worth a shot on checking in for activity.. If you have time, check in on the hatchlings, bring a can of red wrigglers for the parents n see if they will take em :)

I've been tossing the local robins some red worms out of my compost pile. I've seen them digging for bugs and worms at the base of the pile so I'm hoping that they will get used to me tossing them some worms.. Then maybe they won't fly away so quickly while I'm trying to photograph them.
