So i read this on FM and... id like to hear your thoughts. Im not trying to start anything... i used to be a nikon guy... before i even started -_- was forced upon canon, and i thank god.

But is this really true???

Canon = Primes?
Nikon = Zooms?

Lol i shoot prime... so i guess ive found my company.

I just wanna see some thoughts about this.

Up until a couple of years ago, Nikon didn't offer much in the way of primes - at least not in the common 24, 35, and 85 lengths. They've remedied that with some nice lenses in the past couple of years. But yeah, Nikon's UWA 14-24 and 24-70 are much better than Canon's 16-35 and 24-70...

If you are shooting super-teles then you either use a Canon L prime or you use a Nikon 200-400 zoom, but Canon has announced their big zoom so that doesn't really apply any more.

no lens i have ever used compares to the nikkor 14-24. i love that chunk of glass. it is like a bag full of primes on the d700.

'All generalizations are false' ;)

Seriously - There is a nugget of truth to this misleading generalization about the two camera companies. Canon does have several very well regarded prime lenses (24LII, 35L, 85LII, 135L etc) that are arguably better than any alternatives from Nikon. And Nikon does have some zoom lenses (14-24, 24-70) that are often regarded as being better than the Canon counterparts.

But Nikon has several excellent primes and Canon has many excellent zooms, so don't take this all too seriously.

I guess I have it all wrong then since my bag has 3 Nikon primes and only 1 zoom.

Stupid me.
