Hi. I've got a Canon Pixma IP3600 photo printer. I am amazed by the quality of the prints. I'm using the canon ink it came with and canon photo paper plus glossy II.

My question is has anyone used the cheaper 3rd party inks instead of the genuine canon ones? If so, could you tell a difference in quality? I'm looking at these on amazon and seems that they get good reviews.

Does anyone know if the canon warranty is invalidated if you use 3rd party inks?

Thanks a lot

I have the Pixma 8500 and Pro 9500 printer and have tried 3rd party ink and for me the genuine Canon inks are what I will continue to use. The 3rd party one weren't bad but I found that they run out faster than the Canon ones and thus making that cheaper price somewhat mute. I fail to see the reason why ink has to be the price it is. I have a friend who tried one of those refilling kiosks and it was a disaster.

This is really a personal decision based no experience. I would try some and see if you like them. I had bought some of the Staples in house branded inks as well as Office Depot. They were about 35% less expensive but as I said I seemed to be changing them more often.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Ok, that's helpful, thanks for the reply.

Might stick with the canon for now....
