is closest to the Canon 580. I have two. Actually I'm just looking a third flash for rim lighting. I purchased Cybersync triggers and receivers so I will just need something that will fire on manual only. Then again it won't hurt to have TTL for the future.

read here: http://speedlights.net …ers-and-flash-comparison/ (external link),
or check out Yongnuo's own web page: http://hkyongnuo.com …duct.php?category=1.Flash (external link)

The YN-560 might be the flash for you, but it has no E-TTL.
The upcoming YN-565 will have the same YN-560=580EX (II) casing and will feature E-TTL, but it hasn't been released yet; rumor says it will come out in June

The 560 is what you want as a 3rd light for what you are talking about. Its basically a manual "580ex" dimension wise and for the price its a no-brainer. The 565 will of course be more expensive and probably be overkill for a 3rd flash.

Thanks for he quick replies. I'll check it out. ETTL would be nice but I don't think I'll need it. It is a price issue mostly because of amount of usage. It won't me much at this stage of the game.

That's what I once thought. But I discovered that a flash makes a lot of pics better so I got a Yongnuo YN 465
it has ETTL and manual controls - only $65 - nice !

OK. Sounds good. It does not have to be big just for that purpose..

Well I have been on Ebay and they are both inexpensive. I know the 560 has a PC port. What about the 465?

I think you'd be better off getting the 560. It has a zoomable flash head and a higher guide number. Both will give you much more power out of it.

For some reason I am leaning towards it. A gut feeling you might say. I can't see myself needing the TTL and the zoom and extra juice will help with rim lighting. Bigger is better used to me my motto. That is cottage country talk and I think I'll apply it this time around. Now I have a new one. "If you don't start anything, nothing will go wrong". Not sure why but my wife does not like my new motto as much :D

The 560 is not close to the 580EX. I had done a comparo with my 430 exII, here.
