i might have missed a lens, but these midzooms seem to all be extending lenses ...
24-70L, 24-105L, tamron 28-75, canon 28-135
are there non-extending midzoom lenses?

I guess if they wanted the zooms to be non-extending, the barrel is going to be huge to accomodate the non-extending zoom mechanism inside. If your objective is to travel light and small, having a huge non-extending barrel lens would defeat its purpose. Matthew Yeo
