Was given the opportunity to shoot UC San Deigo's largest event of the year, and it was my first time shooting an event of this scale. Learned a lot about shooting performers and getting frustrated at the 3-song rule (specifically good lights for shooting coming after the songs I'm allowed to shoot). After walking home I for the first time felt the strain of shooting for 11 straight hours with 2x D700 and 14-24 2.8 + 70-200 2.8 VRII on my shoulders.

Jimmy Eat World was a huge pain to shoot because of either no lights shining on them or strobing purple/red lights :p

I agree. Red lights make for KILLER b&w images. I am also glad to see you ended up shooting the 14-24 and 70-200 versus a bag of primes (as per your other thread leading up to this event).

I had a 85 on me and that's typically my favorite lens to use, but with 5-6 photographers (and me being the young trainee), dodging the other photogs and their double bodies became an obstacle, so I opted to go with the zooms instead. Very happy with my results, but sorta sad that they'll probably never see any light of day unless they get used for advertising the event next year.

#2 and 6 are framed a bit high. Same goes for #4 and 5 (but less so).

I'd go a bit easier on the vignette.

Nice otherwise.

I really like the first shot of the audience. Almost wish it was even wider. I like to shoot that one with about a 12 or 14mm lens and get in as much as I can. Do like this one. You can really feel the energy here.

#4 is nice. Kinda wish the drummer's face wasn't hidden behind that cymbal but it's not a big deal here.

5 and 6 are suffering a bit from the crops. Lopped off hands.
