Maybe these is old news, but its news to me:

I was sitting in a bar on Sunday eating lunch with my family and a show called "From the Edge with Peter Lik" came on TV. For those of you who don't know, Peter Lik is a highly acclaimed landscape photographer (although somewhat controversial to some) that travels the world for his images. The show follows him on his endeavors around globe.

The sound was off so Im not sure how good the content actually is and Im not sure what he talks so it could be nothing more than "look what I did" brag show Ive no interest in, but there could be some good information to glean here too - Ill be setting my DVR to find out for sure.

The images on the screen were certainly compelling enough to at least give it a shot. The show is on The Weather Channel on Thrusday 9/8c, must also be repeats on Sunday's since I saw it then.

This topic has been well discussed. Interesting reading from both lovers and haters of Lik's work.

From the comments on this thread, seems I was lucky to have seen it without sound - regardless of the quality of his work. Unfortunate, but Ill still watch an episode or two from DVR.

Thanks!

I actually enjoy the show.I wish there was more "technical" stuff discussed as it turns more into a hiking/adventure show then anything else but all it aside, he shoots some amazing shots. He says he never uses a flash and only natural light. I was on his website the other day and saw he sold a photo for a million bucks! Guess the 'ol chap can really afford his gear now!

Actually, he's toned down the yelling quite a bit...I've been watching them. Overall, the series is not as bad as some are making it out to be.

Yeah I don't think it's too bad. The yelling can be somewhat in your face but it seems to me to be more enthusiasm more then anything else.

I missed the first few episodes, only started watching it 2-3 weeks ago. Too bad TWC doesn't have re-runs for the first few episodes, and couldn't watch it online too :(
The Hassy H4D-60 that he uses is so sexy.

I enjoy them a lot. He goes to some incredible places and gets incredible shots. We all know he edits them, no big deal. I don't understand why he walks around with 5 series legs though.

Personally the one thing that bothers me is how obsessive he is about getting 'the shot' and how they openly say it. It comes off as if that is the only thing he cares about. For me, at least, if you don't get a good shot, you still got to witness how amazing of mother nature. You just can't lose! Anyway, I digress.

I like this show but it seems every time a new episode is scheduled to air, it gets preemped by extreme weather. Now, I just wait for the reruns. I also am able to catch some reruns of Art Wolf from time to time.

Its his livelihood and how he makes a living, not a hobby...he's not photographing because he's retired and has a lot of spare time on his hands.
