All these snow pictures make me want to thank you all for reinforcing my decision to leave Michigan many years ago. :-)

It's a balmy 83 degrees here today, with a light breeze and the low 80's forecast for the next 7 days.

JJ - that's a great shot of the snow blowing off the roof and the flag in the wind.

No snow, no people, no traffic, no noise.....not much of anything at all beyond scorpions and rattlers.

The run out the Apache Trail is certainly pretty desolate in places.

I've always wanted to hike/bike some stretches of the old road that you see above the current grade in some places.

Yeah... that would be brutal...

Once you leave Tortilia Flat.....it is a long way to anything that resembles our normal, hectic world. Ignore the occasional power lines and it is a pretty weird place to be by yourself.

I'd drive it this time of year but any off-road exploration on foot? No Way...

There are two kinds of snow (well way more than 2, but 2 will do). The nice light fluffy stuff on a nice calm day, and the heavy wet stuff on a cold blistering windy day. My pic was the latter. it too almost 6 hours to get to the street and much of that was tossing 30 lb shovel fulls 6 feet in the air because it was so high. Not fun. Then to top it off it was blistering cold with a really strong wind, the kind that chill you to the bones. Nope... not fun at all.

That is the kind of snow we got at syraucse. I loved it! It didn't fall down it shot at you from all dirrections! My North Face Snorkel coat got it's value worth in that weather!

Believe it or not, I still own one heavily over-stuffed winter coat where the hood can be drawn down until you look like Kenny on South Park.

I call it my "Portable Desert" and it goes with me when we visit Michigan at the Holidays!

I'm done with it. I need beaches, bikinis, sun and fun. No more snow, parkas and Kennys for me.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
