No drobo. The two disks are just single internal disks in my pc which I manually run backups between. I do not trust mirror raid.

Speaking of 3Tb drives, Costco has WD 3Tb My Book EHDs for $128...

Humans eventually reach the limits of normal mobility in really cold weather. Witness Randy in A Christmas Story...

We don't have that problem here...

Oh? Seems people start slowing down if they get overheated or dehydrated too . . . Sunstroke, heat exhaustion, heatstroke . . .

thomascanty wrote in post #12907580 (external link)
I don't know about that. Heat saps all of the energy right out of me. When I open the door and walk out into a 100+ degree day I just don't feel like doing a damn thing. It takes all the strength I have just to walk to the car...

. . . or then there's this place called "Death Valley", which didn't get its name because of people freezing to death . . .

4 weeks in Australia wasn't enough to even scratch the surface!!!

Couldn't even think of a "week" in New Zealand. It wouldn't even make a pin prick in that country.

I know, I know. But taking 6 weeks right now is out of the question. Think of this as a reconnaissance trip for a future 6-8 week trip when I'm retired. :D

So now we're discussing whether it's better to "fry or freeze"?

Some folks like it hot, some like it cold. Probably a good thing, otherwise we'd all be living in the same place and discussing how crowded it is. ;-)a

Nope.

I need to do some more testing when I get home tonight.
It may be the motherboard which is nearly impossible to test, but can cause so many problems.

I need to flash the BIOS tonight and see if that helps, I'll run memtest to check the memory and I'll try a few other things. At least I still have a working computer for now.

Oddly enough though, in December / January, you could actually die from hypothermia in Death Valley...

No, we prefer Stone Fish (external link). You just think they are rocks, until you stand on them.

We have their less virulent relative here, the Sculpin. I've survived a stick in the hand from one. Good eating, if you can get past the spines...

I had the second hand changed to a red one after seeing this mod on another forum. Only cost a few bucks to have my watch maker do it.
QUOTED IMAGE

I have a Zodiac I'd like the get the hands changed on. I don't know what idiot thought black hands on a black face would be cool, although I do know which idiot bought one without thinking about it...

John Mayra and I are thinking of going next year to Costa Rica. Any suggestions?

It's been 16 years since I was there and I'm sure the place has changed substantially. The ex and i did our trip somewhat free-form. We had no hotel reservations when we flew in. We picked up a rental car at the airport and just started driving. We stopped whenever we felt like it and ended up staying for several days in the town of Arenal in the mountains. One place I can suggest is the resort town of Tabacon. It is right next to the active Arenal volcano and has lovely hot springs fed by water coming from the mountain.

I do the same now as well as backup to an external.
