One thing I really like about living next to the railroad is that a lot of the guys on the rail crews know us. This area is a main converging point for the crews and equipment. We'll wander over and talk to the quite often. Rarely do we encounter someone that doesn't think we should be there.
I do know to keep an eye out for the CN police though. They have a major power trip issue!! When I worked at GM I would always get the CN vehicles in for maintenance. This included their brand new cop truck. The guy that brought it in was always going on and on about how much power he had and how much he hated people on the CN property. Only time I've ever seen the cops out here was when someone tried to commit suicide by train.

I've seen them do traffic stops nowhere near the railroad. Friend of mine owns (with his family) the local towing company. They hate dealing with CN cops. Fortunately, the encounters are few and far between.
