It's called 'economy of language.' Why use two or more words when one will do?

Lightroom update v3.4.1.....fixes bug introduced with v3.4, adds support for new cameras.

I downloaded the update last night. It's huge, 203mb. Then photoshop wants updates this morning, and it's huge as well. Seems like a lot of code for just a few fixes.

In search of improvement, I downloaded the demo of NIK Viveza. Interesting software. I tried it on a couple of images. I can see the adjustment areas being very powerful tools. Anyone else have it?? Worth two bills?

I'm still waiting for mine from Amazon. It's been over a month. They has some special, the whole NIK package for $150, and now they don't want to send it to me. :(

My experience is that Photoshop doesn't install patches. It completely re-installs the entire program. I could be wrong.

That's a hell of a deal. Maybe it's a mistake and they're trying to figure out how to get out of it.

Dell tried to do that to me when I ordered my 580 EX flash years ago. They had it priced wrong and I ordered it for something like $100 less than it was supposed to be. They kept sending me notices for a week or two saying they were having supply problems then finally gave me the "option" to cancel the order because it was back ordered and would take a month. I replied, saying I was willing to wait. Two days later it was delivered...

Funny, but I had the nearly identical experience with Dell and the 70-200 f/2.8L. They were selling it for $1,200 (already a very good deal at the time), and there was a 10% discount on top of that. This was back when I actually had a little money, so when they started stalling, I bought another one from B&H. Eventually, Dell delivered it, and I immediately sold it......made a couple hundred dollars on the deal.

I've considered that. It was directly from Amazon and they did send a "It is in backorder" note which I had to respond to.

Okay.....one more.

I'm posting this because I am impressed with some of the old photos that I took years ago with 'inferior' equipment, and there's a story that goes along with this photo.

....snip...

I pulled up the EXIF on this just to see what I was shooting, and it was taken with my old G2. This was before my first DSLR, and I can see now why I was so fond of that camera and why I've never been without a G-series camera since then.

I still have my old G3 and use it regularly.

wow!

Been 6 weeks today since the surgery, back to the specialist next Thurs and he should have the ok to start to putting weight on it again from then. Been to the physiotherapist twice a week for the last few weeks and has the 90deg movement back. Champing at the bit to ditch the crutches.

Greg, glad to hear he is healing up very well.

We've got a guy in our AZ Aviation group who does the most killer edits. All his stuff has a "zing" and "pop" that I think I'm lacking. His metal looks much more metallic and his canopies look nearly polished and crystalline. I need to step up my game!

You're killling me Jay. If you need to step up your game, then... ;)

I'm not so particular about it but some guys will actually try to figure the RPM Vs Blades Vs Distance Vs Time in order to get exactly the right shutter speed that will achieve a full arc. It's particularly vexing with two-bladed helicopters which have much lower RPM involved.

Nobody ever told me there was higher math involved!

Very tough week at work and hard to keep up with everything.

Shane - congrats on the new lights.

Chief - since it was before I was born...what's the story with the yellow bus?

No particular story, Tim. We just played with that photo for days, adding things to it, putting the bus in unusual places, etc.. Even if I could find that old thread in the archives, I doubt any of the links are valid any more. It was just a lot of fun. Wooly Dan remembers it, although he wasn't really a participant.

The bus was abandoned near the Amtrak station in North Palm Springs, and I took several photos of it during the months it was there. I do believe some homeless people had taken up residence in it for a while. Eventually, it was towed away, and never seen again.

Most of the people who were involved in that thread are gone now (from the forum --- not the more dire meaning of the term;)) Two of them were moderators at various times (Scottes and IanD). It was just good fun.

Sounds like a yellow school bus version of the "Where's Ducky?" thread.
