Try 8C (46F) with a north wind off of the lake. Wind chill at 5C (41F). Wearing shorts and a thin t-shirt. Still had a great game. Lost but played well. Only got out on one bat and had some great hits otherwise. Got three people out in one inning. Got hit by two grounders that took a bounce

Ouch! Catching a frozen ball isnt fun. I heard getting hit by one causes instant frost bite!

Okay.....one more.
I'm posting this because I am impressed with some of the old photos that I took years ago with 'inferior' equipment, and there's a story that goes along with this photo.
The shot was taken Feb. 9, 2002 (before many of you were born), in Reno, Nevada. This was at the east end of the yard, and I'm facing roughly northeast, not that it really matters. The train is the California Fun Train, a train that ran from Oakland to Reno on Friday evenings, laid over Saturday, then returned on Sunday. I rode it a couple times, and it was basically a rolling drunk tank, especially on the Friday leg. The Sunday trip was a little more sedate as the majority of passengers were severely hungover. In the photo, the UP engine is on the point, no doubt to help the two Amtrak Dash-8's get that big train up to the summit. It has already been turned, and is pointing westbound waiting for the next day's departure.
Anyway, we were in Reno on our own; we didn't go up on the train. An attorney/friend of mine was doing some 3D modeling of a Dash-9 locomotive for use in a railroad accident lawsuit, and had asked me to get some detail photos of the pilot. This was a perfect opportunity, and I was snapping away when the railroad police, the yardmaster, and the division superintendent all converged on me
en masse. I had indeed trespassed beyond the 'No Trespassing' sign, an act I had performed countless times before. I was usually greeted with a friendly wave of any railroad employee I encountered, but this time was different. It was only 5 months after 9/11, and I guess they were skittish. They hassled me for a while, and made me promise never to go on their property again, yadda, yadda, yadda. The fence they built around the yard later that year made sure of it.
I pulled up the EXIF on this just to see what I was shooting, and it was taken with my old G2. This was before my first DSLR, and I can see now why I was so fond of that camera and why I've never been without a G-series camera since then.
Always love the stories Chief! Stellar shot from the G2!

Trains and ocean surf don't keep me awake. I sleep like a baby.
Love to sleep to ocean surf! Its the main reason why i try to book ocean view on the beach when on vacation. Very relaxing!
