Sort of good news but sad at the same time. Like like NASA has chosen the new deep space container. I'm sure it has lots of upgrades, but one would think we have come a little farther in 40 years. They pretty much took the Apollo capsule and painted it black. ;)

Killing a couple of minutes before a meeting begins...

I think it's more economics than anything else. The STS was much too complex and costly. Robotics have improved multiple orders of magnitude in the last 40 years. There's no need for a vehicle that can carry both large cargo and humans at the same time.

I'm not so particular about it but some guys will actually try to figure the RPM Vs Blades Vs Distance Vs Time in order to get exactly the right shutter speed that will achieve a full arc. It's particularly vexing with two-bladed helicopters which have much lower RPM involved.

Yeah - 300 rpm or so could be a bit tough. Given that the alternative is a continuous sonic boom though . . .

I agree, but a while ago NASA had a very small shuttle-like orbiter. It was not designed to carry cargo, other than human, but it could land like the shuttle. I guess i just though that we would have learned from the previous programs and moved forward. This seems like a step back. But if it gets us off this rock and moving outward, I guess it's all good.

Hey all,

Wow, I don't know if any of you watch CNBC, the long-time financial news network that has pretty much paved the way for the whole field of financial news networks, but one of the rock-solid anchors for the network, Mark Haines, died unexpectedly last night at 65. He was one of the daily "faces" that you became very familiar with if, like me, finance was part of your day-to-day life, so it was a shock to me today and he is getting tribute from all over the place, including a moment of silence on the New York Stock Exchange where he was daily hosting the program.

Most of the railroad cops I've met have been real jerks (language moderated for forum consumption). They think they're real cops and then some.

The Carizzo Gorge Railway Police, who have jurisdiction over the railroad the museum runs on, are pretty good people and have been good friends to the museum. They even went so far as to design and wear a badge commemorating the 50th anniversary of the museum this year.

Lightroom update v3.4.1.....fixes bug introduced with v3.4, adds support for new cameras.

Thanks, Dan. Update my desktop and netbook...

My experience is that Photoshop doesn't install patches. It completely re-installs the entire program. I could be wrong.

I think it's Lightroom that re-installs the entire program. If I look in my program files, I have multiple folders for LR (currently LR 3.3 and 3.4) but only one for Photoshop. I've found I can delete the older version folders for Lightroom with no consequence.

It is sad for those who got to "know" him -- he was really an enjoyable guy.

Not quite as broad-based as how it was when Tim Russert from Meet The Press died but still...

Hi Tony.

I read about it this morning and was just as in shock.
