not sure if its been asked before. if yes just post the link. i probably ovelooked here. everybody here recommends buying the Lee holder and filters. problem is its always out of stock nowadays.

Would the cokin holder be compatible with the lee filters instead? anything that might be a problem with the combo?

i'm Thinking of buying the z-pro since i have a canon 10-22 lens.

thanks in advance for your replies.

Yes, any 100mm wide filter will fit. Unfortunately, the Z-Pro is more prone to vignetting and has a problem when using tall filters (4x5 and 4x6) in the very first (closest) slot due to the holder's mounting pins...depending on the situation, it could be difficult to adjust the gradient right where you need it because the pins can block the filter's travel. Unless Cokin has altered their design a bit within the past few years, I had this problem with mine and switched to the Lee several years ago.

mod the cokin holder and it works well...

I put the filter ring in the first slot (of three) on the filter side, and remove the slot on the back. I also sanded down those pegs so you don't have any issues. But I dropped and broke mine and went with a Lee (they were in stock) holder and LOVE it, so much better.

here's the normal way:

here's how I used mine:

Yep...no modifications required to avoid vignetting, even with all three slots in place. Problem with the Z-Pro workarounds is that they may resolve the vignetting issue, but at the same time you're effectively reducing the number of slots that are available. The Lee design takes care of that problem...

^ yep, the cokin is really only good for 2 holders on wide lenses for the most part, where the lee is good for 3. But I will say, since adding my third slot to me Lee I haven't come up with a shot where I've actually needed it!
