I have a 430 Ex and want to soon get a Pocket Wizard system so that I can use off camera remote flash in a venue where I often shoot musical artists. Sometimes they crank up the lights well. Other times they make the place so light starved that even ISO 6400 isn't enough. I've resorted to hotshoe based flashing with my 430 EX. However, it would look better if the light came from far off the camera.
At first I'll flash remotely with just my 430EX, but I intend to add flash units till I have a total of three. I haven't decided whether to get the 430EX II, the 580EX II, or something by Sigma.
In any event, how do you secure the flash units up with confidence that they will not fall? I don't believe it would be practical to set them up on tripods. I took some photos of some fixtures at the venue and wondered what type of device would hold my 430 EX (with the Pocket Wizard) in place.
Here's a grid that's off on the wall at the side. In fact, I've seen another photographer attach his strobe to it. That grid goes up above people's heads.

Then overhead, they have fixtures that hold up the lights. I would need permission from the venue to attach strobes to them, but I'm often there hired by the headlining band, and it's a local venue that I believe would allow me to do so in order to serve my client. Here's what it looks like up above:

Obviously, I need to be 100 percent certain my strobes will not fall down onto someone. I don't know for certain that they'll allow me to attach up there, but if I'm confident my strobes will stay solidly in place up there, I'm gonna go for permission. I'll keep them far enough from the main lights that I'll know they won't melt.
