I would say no, it's not odd. Through the winter whenever I start to feel off/blah/just not right, I take some Vit D and it helps quite quickly. Sunlight is a great way to get it, but not everyone will get enough sunlight or just don't produce it well enough. Melody

And not just the sitting out in the sun, but actual, professional therapy sessions. Maybe, I know it said its common here because even in winter our sun isnt the best... Gear, New and Old!
