Some jets from Planes of Fame. I'd never seen an A-4 in action before, so this was pretty neat. Anyone know who operates this and how they got a hold of it? I know it was a nightmare to get the gov't to allow F4s to be piloted by 'civilians' after their retirement. The first shot is a 100% crop as I was being a nitwit and shooting from the line at the food stand for the demo...ugh.

That TA-4J was assembled from parts purchased from the boneyard in Tucson.

The gentleman who built it was once a senior wrench at PoF who went off to start his own operation at Marana, AZ.

IIRC, he has enough parts to build two more two seaters and two single seaters. He made many little changes in avionics and systems (LCD instruments, bottled O2 instead of LOX, etc...) and is offering that A4 for somewhere around $4 million.

Wow, interesting stuff. I don't even want to know how much money that thing burns an hour!

The operative term is "Cubic Dollars"

Someday I hope to get that bird air to air.
