Here are three shots I took at the weekend, all with the MP-E65 on my 40D and illuminated with the MT-24EX Twinlite.
First is the common malachite beetle, Malachius bipustulatus, from three separate exposures. I hadn't knowingly seen these before but I saw two in the same day. They're only about 6mm long, but beautifully coloured.
Next the increasingly common harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis, next to an empty husk of an aphid. This also was a three-shot stack.
And finally my best shot yet of the 14-spot ladybird, Propylea 14-punctata, which I've always found difficult to get a good view of as they seem so good at seeing you coming, and running under a leaf! This was just two exposures. Without stacking it's not possible to get all of a ladybird in focus at this magnification.
