I was looking to purchase a lens hood for my 60d, but am not sure whether to buy Canon's original or generic version... I'm not in the U.S. right now so there's a big price difference between both of them... Are they both just as good? Is the original one worth getting? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I always buy genuine, but I've seen people with the generic ones. I'd stay away from the ones that screw onto the filter or lens.

Oh ok, yeah, I think this generic version screws onto the lens from what I've seen on their website... Will that scratch the lens? This is the one that I'm looking at: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar …35-17-40modelo-ew-83e-_JM (external link)

That picture looks like a plastic bayonet style, like Canon's. A screw-on one would screw into the filter threads and shouldn't, if properly made, scratch anything.

I can tell you 1st hand on experience, that the generic hood for the 10-22 is garbage.. it's fits but very loosely... i would not recommend it to anyone..

i don't have the screw in one.. but it still WEAK
