I have so many questions about this IXUS 750 - Powershot and it doesn't help that I'm techinically challenged as well - please help me understand what I did wrong - why I have so many icons on the screen and how do I get my autofocus back. Or maybe it's on? Is that the AWB? Also there's a red light that comes on when I press the shoot button and then it takes about 30 seconds for it to take the photo. How can I fix that?

Is there any videos online that will explain everything? The manual is just as confusing as the rest of this.

AWB is "Automatic White Balance"; it lets the camera adjust your pictures to suit the type of light available for the picture.

To get rid of the "clutter" on your LCD, make sure the camera is in "Auto" mode (Mode dial is set to the icon that's just the camera, without the "Mide it). Then press the "Disp" button a couple of times until you get a display you like.

Making sure the camera's in "Auto" mode should also take care of your auto-focus issue.

Is the red light that you see on the front or the back of the camera? On the front it is probably the "Red eye reduction/self-timer indicator" lamp. On the back, a solid red (orange) light means your flash is ready; if it's blinking the camera is warning you of a slow shutter speed that will probably show up as blurry pictures due to camera shake. If it's yellow, you're seeing a focus alert - steady if you're in a "special" focus mode; blinking if the camera is having toruble focusing on whatever's in your picture.

Hi!
Thanks so much for replying. Kind of freaking out because I really want to use this camera and had it on a back shelf for months. OK - so I figured out the red flashing on the screen - red eye reduction - managed to get rid of that. Also the red flashing on the outside - I got rid of that - how - I don't know. Just started pressing everything and it went away.
Now there's something else - I press the function button to get into the settings and it won't move from S or M2 - up or down only to those two. How do I get back into all the functions?

Do you still have the manual for it? It would be much faster for you to look up what the buttons do in there than wait for replies on here I think, and you'll learn a few things about the camera too :)
If you don't I'm sure you can find it quite easily on google.

The manual is confusing - as I wrote in the OP. If it's explained I understand.
