I am looking at getting a flash for my 5DII and some wireless triggers.

Which of the Yongnuo flashes will work?
Any other flashes ?

What about wireless triggers to go with the above ?

Many thanks.

I guess first you need to decide if you are willing to pay for eTTL flashes and triggers or are content with manual flash. eTTL is going to be more expensive than manual. Most any flash will work with manual triggers and manual flash mode.

Are the flashes for on camera or off camera use? I'm just confused because you ask about your 5DII but then also mention you are getting wireless triggers.

For on-camera I'd get the YN-468s since they are ETTL. Or wait for the YN-565 which is *supposed* to be coming out next month which looks amazing! If you only plan to use this on-camera you don't need wireless triggers.

For off-camera you have two choicses- manual or ETTL. One is cheap, one is more expensive.

Cheap option would be a YN-560 or YN-460ii with RF-602s. You can easily get a flash and a set of triggers for under or just slightly over $100.

ETTL option would be Radio Poppers or Pocket Wizards and YN-468 (or wait for the YN-565). This is a $500+ investment.

When using OCF it really doesn't matter what camera you are using. Either of the above set-ups will trigger just fine with any compatible camera.

I was after both - on-camera and off-camera.

I was having great difficulty working out which flashes would work on-camera with the 5DII. Happy with Yonguna flash options.

Many thanks.

I have the YN 460ii and 468 and both worked great while I was learning how to use lights and still trust them to use during weddings.
