Hey had a problem last night anyone know why?

I put my Dads 2.8 Sigma 70-200 glass on my 20D. I could fire one shot then got err99 in the window until I took it off. This just kept repeating everytime I tried it on.

Any ideas?
Joel

It was probably not the HSM version, was it?

It may need to be re-chipped.

Yep,

This was a problem with some Older 70-200 2.8s ... I believe Sigma will re-chip it for free. Also, I sent you a PM back in response to your question about metering modes.

I had a similar problem with another sigma and my 300D - just power the camera off, remove the battery, reinsert, power on. You dont HAVE to get it rechipped unless the above sequence really annoys you.

I have the same lens and camera setup and you can only use this lends wide open at 2.8 in av mode.
Its too old to be chipped by sigma but its a cracking lens and very fast and sharp at 2.8 so i use it for sports and wildlife stuff.
