Well then, the memory chip showed up in the mail today, but the laptop won't be back here for a couple days or so so it's just sitting here taunting me:)!

Well then, as of today, I believe I can write "finis" to this episode of the life saga!

My daughter showed up Tuesday with the laptop, and the 1 Gig memory chip from Amazon (via CalvinNHobbes) successfully installed, woohoo! So, then it was testing the whole thing out and getting software that would actually work.

CS3 became a no-starter, because my old laptop installation was still in the Adobe system and I haven't been able to connect with Adobe support to get it deactivated -- CS3 is too old for online support and they haven't returned my calls.

But, I had an available copy of Photoshop Elements 5! I installed that, no muss no fuss, it works well and my daughter is perfectly happy with it, Lightroom 1.4 is happy using Elements as the external editor so she can go from one to the other and all is well!

She just left after a couple days of testing things out, making sure she could take pics, download, import with no hitches and now I can relax! Yay!

Thanks for all the input and the fun interactions, gang!
